Vishal Sharma
sociotechnical researcher | interaction designer | software engineer
I am a PhD Candidate in the School of Interactive Computing at Georgia Tech, advised by Dr. Neha Kumar, mentored by Dr. Bonnie Nardi, and guided by Dr. Ellen Zegura, Dr. Beki Grinter, and Dr. Shaowen Bardzell.
My work centers on caring for the planet and its life forms. I'm a researcher,  designer, and engineer studying technology design and use to realize sustainable and just post-growth futures. I employ qualitative and ethnographic research methods to understand how technologies can support post-growth futures. Through participatory and speculative design methods, I offer suggestions for creating technologies to enable a shift to post-growth futures. I use agile development methodologies to continuously refine the suggestions into actionable pathways to realize post-growth futures. My work offers sociotechnical guidelines for supporting climate justice, equitable futures of work, and post-capitalist political economies.
